Insects of the order Coleoptera, having biting mouthparts and forewings modified to form horny coverings that protect the underlying pair of membranous hind wings when at rest.

Oriental Beetle
Lactrodectus geometricus

Characteristics – 
The adults are similar in size to Japanese beetles (7/16 inch), Problems are caused by the larvae feeding on the foots of plants, especially grasses and results in serious damage to lawns. Also a serious pest of sugarcane in Hawaii.


Color: however the adult beetles do not have any green, but vary in color from light brown to black, often with darker mottling on the wing covers.

Chinese Rose Beetle
Adoretus sinicus

Characteristics – 
Adults are about 1/2 inch in length. Adults feed on plant foliage at night, creating a lace-like or shot with holes appearance on leaves by feeding on plant tissue between leaf veins. In severe cases most leaves are skeletonized.

Larvae are commonly found in the soil of lawns, gardens, flower beds, and sometimes in cultivated fields, wherever considerable humus is present.

Color: Beetles are sturdy, pale reddish brown beetles.
